Thank you

Volunteers are the backbone of AFL community clubs. Therefore its no surprise that the success and sustainability is strongly linked to the quality of volunteer base. They are the leaders of our club, the influencers, the mentors and the role models to our young players.

And I believe we have the best bunch of volunteers on the lower North Shore.
So I would like to say a big THANK YOU to everyone who’s helped out around the club.

As Winston Churchill said,

We make a living by what we get, but we make a life by what we give.

From the Auskick parent who carried some goal posts back to the storage room, to the coaches who give up their spare time to teach the kids, to the parents who set such a positive example for the kids on the sidelines; you have all helped. Even something as simple as purchasing a raffle ticket, is well appreciated.

We also have a hard working committee, who give up hours of their time to help keep this club running smoothly. Most of this work goes unnoticed but is no the less important as coaching a team.

We’ve also seen some people go beyond the call of duty.

  • To the people who have helped out on the BBQ. In particular on election day (McLeods, Ogier’s, Stewart’s Lowry’s, Jones’, Ladmore’s, Stante’s, Hoult’s), where we made ~$2000 serving democracy sausages,
  • Our Vice President Jane Zahra who has single-handedly organised our great looking club merchandise,
  • Our coaching coordinator Paul Schofield who has supported all the coaches despite not having a child playing at the club,
  • Mark Scown, who spearheaded the acquisition of our new sponsor, WonderWhite!

This Saturday, the Sydney Swans are also celebrating the volunteers with a Grassroots Appreciation Round. We will have 10 players taking part in a lap of honour before the game. The Swans have also offered us discounted tickets ($35 each, with children under 14 free) to sit as a club together. If you would like to take up this offer, please email me before Thursday 12pm.

So once again, thank you for the hours all of you have given. This is your club, and you should all be proud of what we we have created.

Regards,
Daniel Hynes
